Sometimes, when he's feeling extra-grown up, he will insist on writing S-A-M-U-E-L.Which cracks me up how big he tries to act until I realize how big my little baby is getting. There is another person who goes to our church named Sam and whenever our Sam is writing a letter or a picture for someone from church he signs Samuel because, in his mind, that will keep them from being confused. Love the way this kid's mind works.
We are big Rams fans (really big). Ever since Pa was a little teeny Allen and he got a Rams helmet out of a vending machine it's kinda been our family team. Some of us have our own teams (eg. Mom=Redskins, Me & Sam=Ravens) but we all adore the Rams as our family team. In fact, I have been to more St. Louis games then Ravens games. Go figure. So last year when the Ram's 1st round draft was QB Sam Bradford from Oklahoma State Sam freaked out that the someone with his name was going to be playing for the Rams.
Since then it isn't uncommon to see him running around the house saying "I'm Sam Bradford!" What's even funnier is when Ellie is running behind him and says, "Yeah, and I'm MRS. Bradford!"
Heroes and role models play a big role in a little kid's life. Especially when we're talking little boys and the sports figures they look up to. Honestly most of them (read: 90%) I would not want my little guys to follow but recently I have been surprised at how many Christian athletes are coming on the scene. And you know what? As a big sis watching her little men grow it's a privilege to know that there are good men out there for them to look up to.

ReplyDeleteThanks...I happen to think he's pretty cute ;) Although Sam isn't my son... he's my little brother...I get that a lot though when I'm out with the little guys without Mom :)
